COVID-19 & LGA Issue 2

In light of the exchange of email yesterday and our subsequent decision to postpone the Junior Champion of Champions event at Baberton, I feel it correct to update you on the next series of postponements/cancellations in regard to Lothians Golf Association.

As cases of COVID-19 continues increase across the Country it is correct and proper that the Association (LGA) respond in a manner that reflects the severity of the virus to many in the golfing family.

The LGA have therefore considered and agreed the following;

Cancellation of the Annual match with Stirlingshire on 29 March 2020

Postponement of the Annual Executive and Team match with Northumberland on 25/26 April 2020

Postponement of the LGA Executive Meeting on 15 April 2020

Postponement of all Sub Committee meetings from now until 2 May 2020

A decision on the next main tournament which is the Team Tournament Event due at Craigmillar Park, will be taken at the end of March when a more up to date position will have been given by the Scottish Government and the UK Government.

Our Men’s Champion of Champions and Handicap Matchplay knockout tournaments will continue at present as they stay within the current guidelines given.

Further updates will be relayed to you as we have them or where our position has changed from the above.

The LGA appreciate that these are difficult times in an operational and financial manner for our Clubs with many taking the decision to close or limit the use of their clubhouse facilities, however, we trust that where possible that your members may still  continue to enjoy a game that takes them out in the fresh air within manageable social distancing.
