Lothians have National success in Senior Area Team Championships

On a day of sunshine and scattered heavy showers at Stirling GC, the Lothians Senior 6 man team won the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society Area Team Championships for the first time since 2012.

The team of John Fraser, (Royal Burgess G.S.), Tom Cannon (Baberton), Ian Dickson (Gullane), Duncan Low (Gullane), Keith Reilly (Silverknowes) and Gus Santana (Duddingston) had a 3 over par total of 363 (best 5 scores from 6) to win by 6 shots from Glasgow with Fife 3rd 10 shots back on 373.

It was nearly a double celebration as John Fraser had a 4 under par 68 but unfortunately lost the BIH to Glenn Taylor (Angus).

The scoring was very good from all players as the course was very wet following recent heavy rain as well as the greens being sanded and hollow tined the previous week.

Congratulations to all the players on a fantastic performance in what was a very strong field.
