Lothians and Kingsknowe stalwart, Graham Ewart has decided to relinquish his Honorary President role at Heriots FP GC a role he has enjoyed since 2013.
Graham Clarke, Captain of Heriots had these kind words to say about Graham at the recent Annual Dinner of the Club.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Graham who has been our Honorary President since 2013 and has given more than 70-years’ service to the club. Sadly, Graham has felt this is the right time to relinquish the president’s role after 12 years.
Graham first served on the committee of the club in 1956, becoming a Vice-President in 1998 and then Honorary President in 2013. He was an ever-present supporter and took a keen interest in the clubs’ activities. He was a regular attendee on club tours, furnishing biscuits and sometimes his liking for ice-cream at the half way house around the courses.
Graham is a well-known face across Lothians and Scottish golf and among his achievements are:
· Champion at Kingsknowe GC in 1956 & 1965
· Treasurer at Kingsknowe GC for more than 35-years.
· Scottish Amateur Mixed Foursome finalist with Mary Norval in 1964.
· Harper Golfer of the Year in 1970
· In 1984 he became President of the Lothians Golf Association (alongside our own Bob Kilgour as Vice-President)
· And in 2005 he served as President of the Scottish Golf Union.
Our many thanks to Graham"
At the Dinner, Captain Grahame also announced that the Club had agreed to jointly award Graham Ewart along with Sam Hall (Lothians Amateur Champion 2024) the Captain’s Prize for his services to the club and wider golf.
Well Done Graham on behalf of the Lothians.
