Good show from Lothians Boys in Dispatch Trophy effort

The 120th playing of the Golfclubs4cash Dispatch Trophy took place over the Braids at the end of May and the Lothians played their part by entering two teams made up of Juniors and they certainly didn’t disgrace themselves in their efforts.

Kyle Wilson, Lewis Irvine, Sam Hall and Joseph Cookson Lined up for Lothians against Harrison B in the first round are while Ciaran Paterson, Neil Canavan, Josh Beveridge and Sean Gallacher formed a Lothians Boys side who took on British Rugby Club of Paris on the Sunday. “Both teams are made up of juniors,” said Lothians president John Allan. “This gives them experience in this tournament and hopefully they will continue to play in it for many years to come.”

Lewis Irvine & Kyle Wilson and Sam Hall & Joseph Cookson were the Lothians Team which had a great win on Saturday morning against Harrison B but unfortunately lost to a very strong Silverknowes Team in the next round.

The Lothians Boys team also produced a great win on the Sunday morning against The Rugby Club of Paris but lost out on the Tuesday night to a strong Turnhouse team. The Boys team opened with Ciaran Paterson & Neil Canavan and playing behind was Josh Beveridge (Bathgate) and Sean Gallacher (Prestonfield) who are both 14 years of age!

The Boys Selector watched both teams play over the Dispatch Trophy and he stated, “it was clear that all the boys thoroughly enjoyed the competition as well as gaining valuable experience playing in the Dispatch format”.
