Lothians beat Northumberland at Goswick

It is always difficult to beat Northumberland at home but the Lothians team did just that in a very close match at Goswick last weekend. In the morning foursomes we got off to a good start with 3 games up and 3 games All Square after 7 holes but Northumberland finished strongly for the score to be 3 - 3 at lunchtime.

It was close again in the afternoon with us having a narrow lead after the first 7 games but it took two hard fought halved matches by Scott McCandless and Ross Mallon and wins by tail gunners Allyn Dick (4/3) and Craig Davidson (1 hole) to secure the 10 - 8 victory.

Champion Stuart Blair lead by example all day and along with Benn McLeod, Craig Davidson and Jake Edgcombe won both their matches. A great start by young Jake in his first men's match. The winter performance programme over the last few years has created a great team spirit which is now bearing fruit in a string of great results.

Team: L to R - Back Row: Barrie Lewis (West Lothian), Craig Davidson (Longniddry), Scott McCandless (Bathgate), Jamie Duguid (Dunbar), Marc Reid (Craigielaw), Kenny Glen (Craigielaw) Front Row - Benn McLeod (Musselburgh),Allyn Dick (Kingsfield), Stuart Blair (Royal Musselburgh), Jake Edgcombe (Baberton), Ross Mallon (Bathgate) and Ross Colquhoun (Kingsfield)

The Executive match trophy also returned to Edinburgh after a 4 - 2 victory at Magdalene Fields on the Saturday afternoon.
