Mortonhall win Senior Inter District Cup at Kingsknowe

On the second playing of this event between the Edinburgh and the Linlithgowshire Senior Summer League winners, for the Clerwood Consultants Cup, Mortonhall took the honours after a closely fought match against Binny at Kingsknowe.

Played in a 4 ball better ball format, off handicap, one match was decided on the 18th green and two on the 17th which puts a better perspective on the 5 – 0 score line. Binny had been the surprise package in winning the Linlithgowshire Senior League for the first time but came up against a very determined opposition at Kingsknowe which was in excellent condition this late in the season.

Thanks to the host club and the tournament officials Willie Bell, Stewart Kerr and Willie Steven for their assistance on the day. This tournament was instigated to further one of the Lothians Golf Association Governance Review objectives which was to organise more events for a wider range of players. Ian McDonald from the Lothians Club Services Committee was the mastermind behind the event acting as Tournament Administrator as well as sponsor and he is to be congratulated and thanked for getting the tournament off to a great start over the first two matches.
