An uncompleted Centenary Year project to record all the Lothians matches hit the buffers because the 1950 to 1956 minutes book had been stolen out of the Secretary's car at the time. However research is now being carried out in the Evening News and Scotsman archives which has unearthed this interesting report on Graham Ewart's first game for the Lothians. SCOTSMAN NEWSPAPER 29TH JUNE 1953
The two new Lothians recruits, R F Galloway (Broomieknowe) and Graham Ewart (Kingsknowe), were features that may be specially underlined. The youngsters, who played against England in the Boys Internationals this year, were partnered in the foursomes and won against West at Ratho Park. With the vigorous 'wag' that one likes to see in a team tail they also took a point each in the last two singles in what was a very narrow 15-14 defeat. Ewart, the Kingsknowe youth, did more than well to win his first singles district match against a player who did the 4 short holes in a total of 11 strokes. When I next have a coffee with him I will not be surprised if I get a blow by blow account of those matches!!!
