Lothians Golf Association

Lothians team victorious.

The inaugural  match between Lothians Men’s team against Renfrewshire Golf Association was held at Murrayfield Golf Club on Sunday 16th June. On arrival it was apparent that the course was in outstanding condition and with the good weather led to some excellent golf from both sides.

The Lothians team, represented by Stuart McLaren & Andrew Fernie – Bruntsfield Links, Kenny Glen – Craigielaw, Jamie Morris - Glencorse, Andrew Ni & Stuart Thurlow – Murrayfield, Mark Napair - Turnhouse and David Rudd - Longniddry proved too strong for their Renfrewshire counterparts.

16 year old Aidan O’Hagan of the Old Course Ranfurly Golf  Club had just arrived home from the Bahamas the previous day where he goes to school! School catchment areas in Renfrew need reviewed by the local council. Joking apart Aidan won both of his games as did his foursomes partner Stewart Watt beating local favourite Andrew Ni in the top singles match.

Stuart McLaren fresh (and I use that term loosely) from winning the Bruntsfield championship on the previous day showed remarkable scoring with four 2’s in the space of seven holes starting at the Par 4 7th hole!

With the outcome of the match resulting in a 7 1/2 v 4 1/2 victory, it was a really terrific performance from the Lothians Men’s team on the back of their win again Northumberland. The scoresheet for this match and previous matches can be viewed by clicking here

The next match is on Sunday 28th July at Newbattle Golf Club where we entertain the Fife team.
