Finals
In the Champion of Champions final it was a ding dong affair with both players leading at various stages of the match. However it was a par at the 17th that tipped the edge for Craig Johnstone who saw the match out on the 18th when Lee Morgan missed his par putt.
It congratulations to Craig Johnstone of Royal Musselburgh for becoming the Champion in the Centenary year of the Association.
In the Handicap Match play final it was an impressive start for Billy Bishop who built a 3 up lead by the 10th hole. Peter Whitecross attempted to get himself in the game but it was Billy that proved to be a formidable opponent.
The match was finished at the 16th when the players halved the hole.
Congratulations go to our Handicap Champion, Billy Bishop of Pumpherston. One highlight of the event was a hole in one by Billy when he played one of his earlier ties at Gullane No1.
The Association thanks all the competitors who where entered this year and we look forward to seeing some of them back next year.
Semi Finals
On an excellent evening for golf which has allowed for some great play, the Semi Finals of the Champion of Champions got underway this evening. In the first match it was home player Ben Alexander who got the proceedings underway with his match against Dunbar Player, Lee Morgan. Despite a level of home advantage it was Lee Morgan that came out triumphant and seen the match out at the 16th with a 3&2 victory.
In the other Semi, it was Royal Musselburgh's Craig Johnstone who was feeling the pace early on with Steven Sinclair taking an early advantage and by the 8th was two holes to the good. However, some brilliant play from Craig seen him win 4 holes from the next 5 to gain and advantage and seeing the match out 2&1.
On Thursday the finalists will do battle again over the Duddingston course.
Tee off 4.45pm Lee Morgan (Dunbar) versus Craig Johnstone (Royal Musselburgh)
In the Matchplay event, it was Fraser Rennie of Braids United that got these matches underway, however, it was Billy Bishop from Pumpherston that had the upper hand most of the way and seen his way into the final with a 4&3 victory.
The other match proved a closer affair between Peter Whitecross of Liberton and Jamie Rafferty of Binny. Peter won by 2 holes on the 18th green.
On Thursday the finalists will return to Duddingston to earn the right to call themselves Lothians Handicap Matchplay Champion.
Tee off 4.55pm Billy Bishop (Pumpherston) versus Peter Whitecross (Liberton).
