Allyn Dick of Kingsfield has won the Lothians Amateur Championship, following in last year's winners footsteps by completing the double, of winning the Strokeplay Aggregate and the Matchplay. In a hard fought match in the Final he beat Bathgate's Scott McCandless by 2 holes.

In the Semi Finals, Allyn had to get passed last years Champion, Connor Wilson (Castle Park) and did so with a good run of holes to win 4&2, in the other Semi Final, Scott McCandless managed to get passed local greenkeeper, Craig Davidson (Craigielaw) in a hard fought game before winning 3&2.

Matchplay - Quarter Finals

With the sun shining the last eight players took to the course for yet another evening of good golf. In the first match it was Allyn Dick continuing his good form that seen him keep a lead throughout the match to beat home player Andrew Hogg 3&2. It was a ding dong affair between holder Connor Wilson and Kenny Glen, with there never being much in the game either way. However, it took 19 holes to find a winner and Connor managed to squeeze through. Benn McLeod found Craig Davidson in great form and he struggled to keep the Mortonhall Greenkeeper at bay. Craig produced two eagles in the match which allowed him to progress 4&3. In the last match it was Scott McCandless that showed good eraly form over Gareth Pugh, with Scott winning 4 of the early holes. Gareth came back slightly but the margin proved too much to recover from and Scott eventually ran out victor by 4&3.

With an early morning start for the players in the Semi Finals on Saturday, we hope that the weather continues to be kind and may the best player win overall as the afternoon on Saturday sees the final match being played.

8.30 - Allyn Dick (Kingsfield) vs Connor Wilson (Castle Park)

8.40 - Craig Davidson (Craigielaw) vs Scott McCandless (Bathgate)

Final Match tees off at 1.00pm

Matchplay - Round One

Once again the Mortonhall was looking radiant in the evening sun as the players took to the course for the knockout stages.

Best Qualifying scorer, Allyn Dick over came a challenging match against Graeme Reid in the 1st Round of the Matchplay knockout completing the match at the 17th, 2&1. It was also a win for the reigning Champion Connor Wilson, who overcame Graham Robertson (Silverknowes) by the same margin. However, it was disappointment for past winners Mark Napier and Sean Marc who fell at the first round hurdle against Kenny Glen (4&2) and Andrew Hogg ( 1 hole) respectively. There were good wins for Scott McCandless against Stuart Blair - 3&2, Benn McLeod beat Jamie Duguid 2&1 and for Craig Davidson who beat Richard Gill 3&2. The only match that went past the 18th led to a win for Gareth Pugh with a birdie on the 19th to slip past Thomas Simmonds.

The last eight do battle again on Thursday and lets hope for similar weather and conditions for what will be thrilling matches.

Allyn Dick takes on Mortonhall's Andrew Hogg, Connor Wilson takes on fellow Lothians Team Player Kenny Glen, Benn McLeod takes on Craig Davidson in the clash of the greenkeepers and Gareth Pugh tees off in the last match against Scott McCandless. First tee at 17.00hrs
